The fashions displayed at this weekend's MTV Movie Awards may make you green with envy, but you don't have to boast the fame of a star to create a stylish home. As you know, the interior design realm often takes inspiration from the red carpet. We noticed that prevalence of green – worn in various shades – during the star-studded award show.

Color authority Pantone has named hemlock, a pastel green similar to mint, as one if its top hues for spring 2014, so it's no surprise that many leading ladies opted to wear this trendy color. Browse some of the trends we saw on the red carpet and learn how to apply these styles to your New York home:

  • Lime green: "Jessica looked every inch the Hollywood starlet as she posed up a storm at the event, opting for a lime green skirt and white bandeau, leaving a glimpse of her torso on show," writes Kelby McNally of U.K. news site Express. "She teamed a pair of monochrome heels with the ensemble along with an oversized clutch bag but kept her accessories minimal, letting the full skirt do all the talking." To get this bold look in your home, opt for a lime green statement furniture piece, or simply embellished your white couch with green throw pillows.
  • Olive green: Newcomer Shailene Woodley stunned in an olive green leather dress, accentuated with black accents and heels. Steal this look in your home by selecting olive green drapes with chic black tie-backs or rods.
