Donation of Turkeys to the Salvation Army
We were contacted the week before Thanksgiving because the Plainfield Salvation Army did not have enough turkeys to feed needy families. We quickly wrote them a check for 25 turkeys to help them achieve their goal. Read the letter from Captain Henry Thibault of the Salvation Army.

Summer Fabric Trade-in - Labor Day Weekend
Customers donate old fabrics and sewing machines for store credit. We then donate these fabrics and sewing machines to charities throughout the community. To sign up to receive fabric donations, call 908-755-4700 ext 103.
The Sewing School at Fabricland - Each month, our staff of teachers offer many different classes for adults and children - ranging from "Absolute Beginner" and "Sewing 101" to more intermediate "Sewing 102" lessons. Under the guidance of our Education Director, we offer classes in hand sewing for children, (see our Brownie/Girl Scout Program on the Fabricland site) quilting for teens and adults, sewing for the home, learning to use your own machine and serger, sewing fashion accessories and lots more! Our classes are geared to every level - from those who have never sewn before or need to refresh their skills, to more intermediate and accomplished sewers. A calendar of classes and events is available at our Fabricland store or on the Fabricland website. Advanced registration is necessary for all classes by calling 908-755-4700 ext 140.
Summer Camp Program at Fabricland - During the months of July and August, Fabricland’s Sewing School teachers provide five weeks of great projects for kids, ages 10 to 13 and teens ages 13 to 17. Classes run Monday through Thursday with three hour sessions each day, with a short snack break. Projects include basic and intermediate sewing of clothing , accessories and quilts. Annual Halloween Costume Contest
For the past twenty-one years, Fabricland has hosted this event for children and adults of all ages! Entrants are asked to wear an original or pattern design an dmarch in our parade. Over $1,000 in prizes are awarded to the best costumes in each age group and all entries receive a gift certificate, ribbon and goodie bag.

Hurricane Katrina Relief
Donation of fabrics, window treatments, and home furnishings to aid victims who have relocated to NJ.
Operation Sweet Dreams
Donation of fabrics and pillows for soldiers in Iraq.
Coats for Kids
Machine-stitched fleece jackets for area kids in need.
Clothing for Kids
Machine stitched dresses for girls in Appalachia, Tennessee.
Liberty Science Center Tour
For 4th grade students in North Plainfield schools.
New Jersey Food Bank
Donations of canned and boxed food for community.
Fabricland Textile and Design Award
Presented each year to the most talented graduating senior in five area high schools.
Crafts for Kids
Volunteers visit kids in area hospitals and work on craft projects.
Warm Up America
Donation of handknit hats, gloves, scarves, afghan squares.
